Airline teams up with The Hobbit for latest safety video
If there is a way to make boring in-flight safety videos entertaining, Air New Zealand has found it. Starting in November, coinciding with the Wellington premiere of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, the airline will begin showing the new in-flight video, featuring employees decked out in Middle-Earth style gear. Joining forces with film studios New Line Cinema and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, Air New Zealand will also be linked to the next Hobbit film in the trilogy, The Hobbit: There and Back Again. This is not the first time the airline has teamed up with the studios — they also formed a relationship during The Lord of the Rings trilogy.
Air New Zealand is known for its above average in-flight safety videos, with past stars including the All Blacks rugby team and fitness guru Richard Simmons. The new video will appear on all domestic and international flights, so if you are planning a trip to New Zealand and you’re a fan of The Hobbit, now is the time to go! ~Morgan Bates
