Technology giant Microsoft has announced that while its marketing campaign for their newest smartphone software aims to build on current celebrity endorsers like Jay-Z and Gwen Stefani, they also plan to use the first part of The Lord of the Rings prequel, The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey. Microsoft has partnered with advertising, marketing and consulting company network Wunderman to create brand new digital and press materials featuring characters from the film, such as Bilbo Baggins and Gandalf. The advertisements will appear in the U.S., U.K. and Germany. Microsoft continues to push thier “smartphone reinvented around you” theme, which sees celebrities like Jessica Alba showing how they personalize their Microsoft optimized devices. ~Brandon Bastaldo
