Spoilers revealed in new Hobbit LEGO set
A new LEGO set for director Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit: An Unexpected Adventure was released earlier this week and is proving to Tolkien fans everywhere that we can’t be too sure of what to expect from Jackson’s film. The LEGO set in question recreates a scene with Bilbo Baggins and his band of dwarfs getting tangled in the webs of the giant, talking spiders of Mirkwood forest. This may be a well-known scene from author J.R.R. Tolkien’s source material but fans are freaking out because the set also includes the elves Legolas and Tauriel. While Jackson created Tauriel’s character for this prequel film, Legolas is not supposed to appear until later in the story, which means he’s technically not supposed to be in this upcoming movie. Although there has been no official annoucement about Legolas making an appearance in the film, the cover art for the set shows both Legolas and Tauriel fighting off the spiders. Fans are seeing this as an unintentional preview of one of the surprises Jackson has planned for The Hobbit: An Unexpected Adventure. ~Brandon Bastaldo
