With the release of his newest film, The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug franchise nearing, director Peter Jackson, shown here directing a scene from the movie, revealed just how enjoyable the filmmaking process has been. Jackson admitted in an interview with CBS News, “I’ve enjoyed making these as much as I’ve enjoyed doing anything in my life. This movie, the pace and the sort of energy of it, I think, is almost reflecting my kind of increased excitement and enthusiasm and spirit as I go along.” Jackson has been working with J.R.R. Tolkien’s setting of Middle Earth for the past 16 years on films with The Lord of the Rings trilogy and then The Hobbit trilogy. The second film in the trilogy stars Martin Freeman, Benedict Cumberbatch and Ian McKellen. Peter Jackson is both the director and co-writer of the film. It hits theaters this Friday. ~ Brie Davis
